Scandal Star Kerry Washington Will Be Producing New Series "Patrol" Coming To ABC 

BHR Hollywood Reports........Kerry Washington is moving from actress to show creator, as she is producing a new police drama series for ABC, the home of her hit show "Scandal."

The 39-year-old Hollywood star is currently leading the development of "Patrol," a workplace drama about four female LAPD officers who attended the police academy together five years ago and are forced to reconnect after a high-stakes, traumatic secret returns to haunt them, according to Variety.

Chitra Sampath (Secrets and Lies, Southland) wrote the script, which centers on a quartet of cops who attended the police academy together several years before and are forced to reconnect to confront a secret that won’t stay buried.

Michael London, Janice Williams, and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett will executive produce alongside Washington, and Sampath will serve as co-executive producer.

Washington is producing "Patrol" through her newly launched production company, Simpson Street.

The company is also behind the HBO film, Confirmation, in which Washington portrayed Anita Hill, who accused Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment in 1991.

The role earned Washington an Emmy nomination.
