Former 79ers Asst. Coach Sean Rooks Has Past Away At The Age Of 46 |
"It is with deep sadness and overwhelming grief that we mourn the sudden loss of my son, Sean," said Deborah Brown, Rooks' mother, in a statement released by the Philadelphia 76ers.
"Our family asks that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this incredibly difficult time."

Rooks was an assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers the past two seasons but was no longer under contract with the team, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Rooks played at the University of Arizona from 1988-92, receiving honorable mention All-America status in his senior season. The Dallas Mavericks selected him in the second round of the 1992 draft (30th overall).
He went on to play for the Mavericks, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Atlanta Hawks, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the New Orleans Hornets and the Orlando Magic in an

"Words simply cannot express the heartbreak and shock our entire organization is feeling over this loss," co-managing owners of the 76ers Josh Harris and David Blitzer said in a statement released on the team's Twitter account.
"Sean will long be remembered not for his accomplishments on the court – of which there were many – but for his vibrant personality, positive outlook and the genuine care he had for everyone in his life."
