Gladys Knight Son "Shanga Hankerson" Faces Felony Charges For Stealing More Than $650,000

BHR Hollywood Reports.........Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles, an Atlanta dining institution that features Southern favorites and is named after the famed singer, was raided on Tuesday after Georgia's Department of Revenue accused the owner -- Knight's son "Shanga Hankerson"-- of theft and tax evasion.

Knight's son faces felony charges  and is accused of stealing over $650,000 in both sales and withholding tax. Penalties and interest brings Hankerson's grand total to over $1 million owed.

Knight nor any other restaurant employees are involved in the investigation and face no criminal charges.

The chain's flagship restaurant is based in Atlanta, while its other two eateries are located in neighboring parts of Georgia.
