BHR Hollywood Reports...........Snoop Dogg has no plans to watch the Roots remake, and he's telling his fans to also boycott the show.

The rapper sent out his message over social media on Monday.

In the video on Instagram and Twitter, Snoop Dogg rails about the remake of Roots, which premieres Monday as a four-night series on History, A&E and Lifetime channels.

Alex Haley Author Of The Roots
The remake is based on ABC's landmark 1977 miniseries of the same name, taken from author Alex Haley's 1976 novel, which explored the horrors of American slavery.

Snoop Dogg says he won't watch Roots and calls upon other African-Americans to follow suit.

Roots co-executive producer LeVar Burton (kunta Kinte)
"Let's create our own (expletive) based on today. How we live and how we inspire people today. Black is what's real," he says.

Earlier, Roots co-executive producer LeVar Burton, who played the central character in the 1977 miniseries, enslaved protagonist Kunta Kinte, told Reports that the remake was needed as part of a national discussion.

"We are clearly engaged in the conversation in America and it's one where everybody needs to be involved," Burton says. "If you are living in America right now, then the story of slavery is relevant to you, because it's shaped the country and the culture in which you live, whether you want to admit that or not."
