New Movie Trailer ( Southside With You ) The Story Of
President Barack Obama And Michelle Obama First Date
BHR Hollywood Reports.......Before she was Michelle Obama, she was just Michelle Robinson, a Chicago-based attorney with the South Side seeping through her veins, dreams of women's empowerment tucked carefully into her briefcase and Sidley & Austin LLP etched across her business card.

Michelle Obama And Barack Obama
The Sundance indie Southside With You is your classic boy-meets-girl romance, chronicling one couple’s first date from start to finish. The only catch? That couple later went on to become the U.S. commander-in-chief and the first lady.

Writer-director Richard Tanne took Barack and Michelle Obama’s rom-com meet-cute and dramatized it for Southside With You, which premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.

Now, John Legend, who executive produced the film, has shared the first trailer, which gives us a fictionalized look at the Obamas’ first-ever date.

Parker Sawyers stars as the future president, who takes a summer job at a Chicago law firm in 1989.
Tika Sumpter and Parker Sawyers as
 Michelle and Barack Obama
There, he meets his boss, a young attorney named Michelle Robinson (Tika Sumpter), and after some persistent pleading from Barack, she agrees to spend the day with him.

Back then, she was merely Barack Obama's summer supervisor and she had absolutely no time for his tardiness, his silver tongue or his multiple requests for a date. "How’s it gonna look if I start dating the first cute black guy that walks through the firm’s door?" Michelle (played by Tika Sumpter) asks in the first trailer for Southside With You. "It would be tacky."

And yet, somewhere between those initial rebuffs and the close of their first date, Parker Sawyers’ Barack Obama won Michelle over.

Maybe it was that boyish charm. Or, those "Dumbo" ears. Or, the unaffected way that he articulated his dreams to better the community around him.

Southside With You traces the arc of that first date back in 1989, following the couple as they take in art, discuss their civic ambitions and share an ice cream cone their first kiss.

Southside With You hits theaters on Aug. 19. Watch the trailer above.
