The pop icon’s first album in seven years debuts atop the Billboard 200 with 116,000 equivalent album units (109,000 in pure album sales) in its first week, according to Billboard.
It’s her first No. 1 since 2008’s Discipline, and makes Jackson third on the all-time list for most No. 1 debuts by a female artist, after Barbra Streisand (with 10) and Madonna (eight).
Jackson’s previous chart-toppers include All For You (2001), The Velvet Rope (1997), janet. (1993), Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989), and Control (1986).

Among women with the most No. 1 albums, Jackson has the third-most leaders. Only Barbra Streisand (with 10) and Madonna (eight) have more.

Tamar Braxton’s third album Calling All Lovers arrives at No. 5 with 43,000 units (38,000 in pure album sales).
Her last project, 2013’s Love and War, debuted at No. 2 with 114,000.
This week’s Billboard 200 marks the first time since 2007 that all top five albums have been hip-hop and R&B.
