Former UC Police Officer Ray Tensing Has Been Released
From Jail After Pleading Not Guilty!!!!!
BHR Hollywood Reports.............A former University of Cincinnati police officer charged with murder in the shooting of an unarmed black motorist entered a plea of not guilty Thursday and was released after posting a 10th of his $1 million bail.

At the arraignment, the judge set Tensing's bond at $1 million.

Sam DuBose
Some inside the courtroom applauded when Judge Megan Shanahan announced the bond, and she quickly admonished them and called for order in the court.

Tensing posted bond later in the day, according to the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts' website. His
next court date is set for August 19.

The former officer later Thursday posted 10% of his bail, according to the Hamilton County clerk’s website.

 Attorney Stew Mathews
Mr. Tensing’s attorney Stew Mathews had asked for a reduced bail, saying his client had an “exemplary record” in law enforcement and posed no flight risk, but a prosecutor said he had never asked for bail of less than $1 million in a murder proceeding.

The defendant wore a striped jail uniform, his hands cuffed behind his back, and said only: “Yes, your honor,” when asked if he understood the charges against him. The next hearing was set for Aug. 19.

Mr. Tensing was fired from his job Wednesday, after the announcement of his indictment, university officials said.

He had been on the campus force for more than a year and earlier served for several years on the force of a small city, Mr. Mathews said.

The shooting occurred about a mile from campus on July 19. Mr. Tensing has said he was being dragged by Mr. DuBose’s car as the motorist tried to leave the scene and was forced to shoot.
