Smyrna and Cobb police attempted to arrest Nicholas Thomas on a probation-violation warrant. Thomas was shot and killed by Smyrna police Sergeant Kenneth Owens as police said he drove a vehicle toward the officers.
"It was at that time that the suspect drove his car toward the officers and they were in fear for their lives and fired rounds inside the vehicle," said Smyrna Police Ofc. Ed Cason.
However, witnesses said the car wasn't going toward the officers.
"He wasn't coming at them with force from within his car, as they were trying to report. That's not what happened," said witness Brittney Eustache.
