The Atlanta Falcons Pounced On The New Orleans
Saints And Won (30-14), And Becomes A Step Closer To The Super Bowl
BHR Hollywood Reports.........The Falcons beat the Saints, 30-14, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday and Carolina's win over the Browns eliminated New Orleans from the postseason.

Trailing the Falcons by six points late in the fourth quarter with 90 yards to go to keep its season alive, New Orleans failed.

Drew Brees looked left, heaved the ball up, and threw an interception that led to a field goal that put Atlanta ahead 23-14 in the final two minutes. The Falcons added insult to injury with Osi Uminyiora's 86-yard fumble return as time expired.

That was the way it went for the Saints (6-9) on Sunday, as they lost their fifth straight home game as the Falcons (6-9) completed a season sweep. It's the first time New Orleans has lost five straight games in the Dome in a season since 1980 when the Saints finished 1-15.

"Despite the way we played offensively in the first half, our defense battled and put us in a position to win that game in the end," Brees said. "We're down six points with two and change and we were not able to win the game. That's disappointing."

The Saints were eliminated from playoff contention with Carolina's 17-13 win over the Browns. Carolina and Atlanta play next week to decide the NFC South title.
