St. Louis Player Oscar Taveras And His Girl Friend Edilia Arvelo Died In A Car Accident Monday

BHR Hollywood Reports.........The St. Louis Cardinals suffered a tragic loss on Sunday, Oct. 26, when outfielder Oscar Taveras was killed in a car crash in the Dominican Republic.

The baseball player, who was 22 at the time of his death, was driving the car in his home country with his girlfriend Edilia Arvelo, 18, when he crashed, killing them both.


“We are all stunned and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of one of the youngest members of the Cardinals family,” Cardinals Chairman Bill DeWitt Jr., said in a statement.

 “Oscar was an amazing talent with a bright future who was taken from us well before his time.

 Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends tonight,” shared DeWitt.

“I simply can’t believe it,” Cards GM John Mozeliak said.

 “I first met Oscar when he was 16-years-old and will forever remember him as a wonderful young man who was a gifted athlete with an infectious love for life who lived every day to the fullest,” he continued.

Taveras just completed his rookie season as an outfielder, batting .

239 in 80 games. He was looking forward to a promising career.
