Media reported that Dwyer was being “questioned about alleged fight with [his] wife from a while ago,” after being “escorted out to [Phoenix] Police after Wednesday[‘s] practice.”
Phoenix police later confirmed that Dwyer had indeed been arrested on aggravated assault charges.
According to AZCentral.com, the charges are based upon two incidents that happed in July and “involved a 27-year-old woman and an 18-month-old boy,” whom police identified as Dwyer and the woman’s child.

AZCentral.com also reports that police believe Dwyer “took a shoe and threw it toward the 18-month-old child he shares with the woman,” during the second incident, while Dwyer “threatened to harm himself…in an attempt to keep the woman from contacting police.”
Dwyer, 25, is in his first year with the Cardinals after spending the previous four seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Hardy was convicted in July after he was alleged to have thrown his former girlfriend into the bathtub, onto a sofa covered with guns, then threatened to kill her.

All of this came less than two weeks after former Ravens running back Ray Rice was suspended indefinitely by the NFL and released by the team after a graphic video surfaced showing Rice assaulting his then-fiancée in February in the elevator of an Atlantic City casino.
Rice’s indefinite suspension was officially appealed by the NFL Players Association on Tuesday
