Chicago deadly 4th of July weekend-in ends with 60 shot and 9 killed

BHR HollyWood Reports.......The holiday weekend proved to be a violent three days in the city of Chicago. According to “ABC 7″ in Chicago, at least 60 people were shot and nine have been killed during the 4th of July weekend.

The shootings began around 2:30 a.m. Friday morning when Corey Hudson, 34, was killed when someone in a car drove up and shot him and his friend.

On the Fourth of July,  the police were involved in three of the shootings. Police shot a 16-year-old boy after they claimed he was hiding and aiming a gun at them.

A 21-year-old man died after someone approached his vehicle and shot him in the head while injuring his 19-year-old cousin. Another 19-year-old, Kezon Lamb, was shot and found blocks away from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s home.

On July 6, a 15 year-old was shot in the head while standing on his porch. The bullet grazed his head and he is currently in good condition at University of Chicago Children’s Hospital.

State and federal officials have yet to solve the pervasive issue of violence in Chicago. The city has a population that is three times less than New York, but Chicago often has three times more homicides than the Big Apple.
