Bronx rapper Fat Joe has pleaded guilty to tax evasion after failing to pay a tax of $700,000 on an income of $3 million.

The 'Another Round' rapper stood before a court on Thursday facing charges of failure to pay tax between the years of 2007 and 2008.

According to The Miami Herald, Joe - real name Joseph Cartagena - pleaded guilty to the charge and is now facing up to two years in prison and a series of penalties and fines.

The 42-year-old entered the plea in a Newark, New Jersey court as he owns several companies in the state. Joe was asked by US Magistrate Cathy Waldor if he understood the charges, to which he replied: "I super understand it."

Joe, whose bail was set at $250,000, has already begun co-operating to resolve the situation and it is thought this could swing in his favor when he faces the judge again in April.

The MC's lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman told the court: "[Joe] had already taken steps to resolve this situation."
