Mariah Carey Honoured At 2012 BMI Urban Music Awards

BHR HollyWood Report Pop diva Mariah Carey was honoured at the BMI Awards on Friday night, in recognition of her prolifically successful and influential songwriting career.

The chart-topping songbird, who looked radiant in a cutout black dress, arrived fashionably late to the event, held at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, with husband Nick Cannon and manager Randy Jackson in tow.

After congratulatory messages from L.A Reid, Diddy, Pharrell and Sidney Poitier, an array of talent in gospel, R&B and soul treated Mariah to a medley of her own hits, mixed by Jermaine Dupri.

R&B crooner Joe performed a touching rendition of 'We Belong Together,' gospel singer Karen Clarke-Sheard sang 'Anytime You Need A Friend,' Eric Benet dueted on 'One Sweet Day,' and Fantasia belted out 'Hero.'

With Nick by her side, a gracious Mariah accepted her honour as she took to the stage.

''I’m just humbled and thankful and grateful'' said Mimi. ''Thank you for blessing me with this moment.''

Proud hubby Nick Cannon couldn’t stop gushing about his superstar wife to reporters on the red carpet, adding ''My wife is an icon and at the same time, is the best wife in the world.'' I'm Big Blac This Is Your BHR HollyWood Report
