A Shame!!!!!Whitney Houston's Movie 'Sparkle' Bombs At Box Office!

BHR HollyWood Reports Whitney Houston's final movie, Sparkle, has failed to, ahem, sparkle at the box office this weekend, not even profiting on their budget.

The musical, which also stars American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, is reported to have grossed $12million in it’s opening weekend, not even outdoing it’s $14million budget. Following the singer's untimely death in February this year, fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Sparkle, only to be disappointed.

Although the movie didn’t do as well as expected in it’s opening weekend, critics have written of the vibrancy Whitney displayed on screen. The late singer played the part of an overbearing mother, and former singer, who has been plagued with demons throughout her life, warning her daughters of the dangers of the entertainment industry.

The plot of the movie bares an eerie resemblance to Whitney’s real life struggles with drugs, her marriage to Bobby Brown and relationship with daughter Bobbi Kristina.

Jordin’s performance also became subject to criticism, and it was reported that although her presence in the film was "sweet," she was not believable as an actress, with People magazine writing that the film itself was a cheap imitation of Dreamgirls.

Ouch! Did you go and see Sparkle this weekend? Were you left unimpressed? I'm Big Blac this is your BHR HollyWood Report
