Gabrielle Union: 'Dwyane Wade Homewrecker Claims Damaged My Career' Was She 'The Other Woman?'

Gabrielle Union has addressed the longstanding rumours that she was the cause of boyfriend Dwyane Wade's split from his ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches.

The Think Like A Man actress has been branded a homewrecker and the other woman ever since she began her relationship with Dwyane almost three years ago while he was going through a messy, and very public, split from Funches.

Speaking candidly - and rarely - about the accusations, Gabrielle reveals that her career took a serious hit in light of the claims.

"It's hard because aside from loving him I wanna protect myself. I've built my life, I've built my own brand, I've built my own career. And my career took a hit from that madness because some people just refuse to see the truth even when it's presented to them time and time again," Gabrielle told TT Torrez at last weekend's Radio One Fest in Miami.

"I love him, but at some point it's about self-preservation and I needed to protect myself and everything I built. I pay for my family, I pay for my momma and my daddy and my sisters and her family. D doesn't write those cheques, I do, so when something is starting to affect how I make a living, no, no, no baby."

Gabrielle went on to explain how her main concern was how Dwyane's sons with Funches were being affected by the difficult period.

"Let me figure out a way of not only protecting our home that me and Dwyane have with the kids, you have to put them first and their love of their mom and their love of peace of mind and their love of consistency first," she explained.

"And then, I gotta make sure I can still feed my own family, and luckily, by taking the high road and not engaging in the back and forth craziness, I was able to do both."
