Are You Feeling Rihanna's New Track 'Diamonds?'

BHR HollyWood Report Pop princess Rihanna's freshly released single 'Diamonds' has been making it's rounds on the radio and web, with the big question being: does it shine?

The track, the first single to be taken from her upcoming seventh LP, is definitely less raunchy than her previously-released material, i.e. 'Cockiness' and 'Birthday Cake,' and ultimately has a more mellow, subdued feel to it.

Rihanna did previously reveal that her new material would be more laid-back, and it was perhaps her plan to try and shock her fans by shifting gears and offering up a more musically vulnerable side of herself with this slow-churning pop tune.

'Diamonds' is not exactly a dance song - it has a slower tempo to fall in line with the more sentimental lyrics, but it also isn’t quite a ballad either.

''Palms rise to the universe/ As we, moonshine and molly/ Feel the warmth, we’ll never die / We’re like diamonds in the sky,'' sings the Bajan babe.

''It gives me such a great feeling when I listen to it,'' the 24-year-old singer told Las Vegas radio host Elvis Duran over the weekend. ''The lyrics are very hopeful and positive, but it’s about love, and the gears are a little different from what people would expect. I’m excited to surprise them sonically.''

Does RiRi have another hit on her hands?

Do you believe the rumours?
