Singer Trey Songz Turns Down Plea Deal Involving His Assault Case 
BHR Hollywood Reports........A singer accused of punching a Detroit police sergeant after a concert in Detroit two months ago has been offered a plea deal in his criminal case.

Trey Songz, whose real name is Tremaine Neverson, did not accept the offer during a court hearing in Frank Murphy Hall of Justice today, but it remains open. The offer would reduce a felony count to a misdemeanor count and requires Neverson to be on probation for two years as part of a sentence agreement.

The R&B artist appeared before Wayne County Circuit Judge Dana Hathaway via a video connection from Los Angeles for his arraignment today. She entered a not guilty plea in the case.
e newspaper reports that the plea offer remains open. It also would place the 32-year-old Songz on two years' probation as part of his sentencing.

Songz was charged in December with aggravated assault and assaulting a police officer. Authorities said microphones and speakers were thrown from the Joe Louis Arena stage. A police sergeant also was punched.

Police have said the singer became upset when told to end his performance.

The case is heading to trial.
