BET Releases Mothers Who Will Be Starring In
New Biopic Series  "The New Edition Story"

BHR Hollywood Reports.......A few more familiar Hollywood faces have been added to the cast of the upcoming New Edition biopic.

The BET film, tentatively titled The New Edition Story, will chronicle New Edition's early years as friends and rise to becoming of R&B's most beloved groups.

BET is rounding out the cast for its three-part miniseries New Edition: The Movie.La La Anthony (Power), Yvette Nicole Brown (The Office; The New Odd Couple), Monica Calhoun (The Best Man), Lisa Nicole Carson (Ally McBeal) and Sandi McCree (The Wire) have signed on to play the mothers of the iconic 1980s R&B/ pop group.

Anthony will play Flo DeVoe, mother of the young Ronnie DeVoe, Brown will play Michael Bivins’ mother Shirley Bivins, Calhoun is Ralph Tresvant’s mother Patricia Tresvant, Carson will play Ricky Bell’s mother Mae Bell and McCree is Bobby Brown’s
mother Carole Brown. They join previously cast Bryshere Y. Gray, Elijah Kelley, Luke James, Keith Powers, and newcomers Algee Smith and Woody McClain.

New Edition Back In The Day 
Written by Abdul Williams (Lottery Ticket), the miniseries follows the group from their humble beginnings as kids in Boston to global megastardom – weathering the highs and lows of controversy, personnel changes, and the ultimate cost of fame.

All of the real-life New Edition group members are on board with the project and have reportedly been working with the young men who will be playing them in the film to ensure that their portrayals as accurate as possible.

While the film's release date has not yet been confirmed, something tells us that this highly-anticipated project will be well worth the wait.
