NBA Star Kobe Bryant Is Retiring This Year After His 16th Season

BHR Hollywood Reports.........The basketball great will announce his upcoming retirement in the Showtime documentary Kobe Bryant's Muse. He is expected to hang up his sneakers after the 2015-16 season.

The five-time NBA champ has dealt with two injury-plagued seasons, most recently being sidelined with a tear to his rotator cuff.

 Bryant's final season will finish out his two-year contract, which was totaled at $48.5 million.

Bryant, 36, is 21 games into his 19th season in the league, all with the Lakers.

But recent times have been tough for the five-time NBA champion.

 He suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in 2013, and injuries limited him to six games last season.

The Lakers, meanwhile, have struggled.

 They had the second-worst record in the Western Conference last season, and entering Wednesday they found themselves in the same position this season at 5-16 despite Bryant averaging 25.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.
