Steve Harvey Talks About His Relationship With Donald Trump !!
BHR Hollywood Reports....... Steve Harvey received epics amounts of backlash for meeting Donald Trump. Back in January, the comedian defended the meeting by saying, "The transition teams on both sides asked me to meet, and I'm glad I did."

He also added, "I walked away feeling like I had just talked with a man who genuinely wants to make a difference in this area. I feel that something really great could come out of this." Well, now Steve isn't too happy about that meeting.

Donald Trump
In an interview , he clearly has some regrets, "Now, here's the crazy thing: I'm supposed to be on a boat for my 60th birthday, so my wife says, 'Steve, just take off [and skip the meeting]. You'll meet with him some other time.'

God, I should've listened." Steve was dragged to the pits of a social media hell. He was a trending topic for days with many labeling him a sellout.

"The backlash. It was so vicious that it really threw me. I was being called names that I've never been called: Uncle Tom. A coon. A sellout. Because I went to see this man?! Which only happened because my business partner got a call from the Obama transition team, who said that the Trump transition team would like to set up a meeting.

The Obama team said they thought it would be a good idea because the president is encouraging dialogue. And I have a relationship with Obama. We're friends. So I say, 'OK, cool.'" Steve said he hasn't talked to Trump since the meeting, but he is working with Ben Carson, who is the head of Housing and Urban Development.

He told Trump in their one and only meeting, "Why don't we take those schools that are closing, put some HUD money in them, and reopen them as vision centers and teach STEM and computers and coding? If you connect me with Ben Carson, I can help him with that." Steve said he has been to HUD twice and "met with Dr. Carson and we're actually trying to get it started. We've had meetings, and now we're just waiting on the final notes.

We have several teams in place. Hopefully before the year goes out, we'll be making the announcement about the first vision center." Harvey, who was pictured with Trump immediately following their meeting, drew ire from critics who called out the disrespect and shame they felt in seeing him, a black man, be so willing to work with a man who has consistently neglected and disrespected the black community.

Harvey himself released a statement in January as the outrage began to bubble up, explaining then why he met with the President and affirming that “he would sit with Trump anytime.”
