While chatting with the ladies, including Tamar Braxton, Lalah, who is the daughter of the legendary Donny Hathaway, spoke about performing and recording her latest album Lalah Hathaway LIVE in the same venue as her famous father.

Donny Hathaway died in 1979 while Lalah was only a child but, she hangs on to his memory and legacy through his music and other belongings of his that she still has.

One of his items recently caused a bit of a stir for Hathaway, after posing in one of her father's hats, and posting it on Instagram.

During her interview on The Real, Hathaway explained why that photo of her wearing her father's hat was so frowned upon.

"...Clearly I'm not in a fraternity," explained Hathaway of the photo posted to Instagram of her wearing an Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. hat, that was given to her mother in memory of her father.

"He loved this thing so much that I put it on my head and took a picture of it and I had no idea the

scandal that it would cause."

Hathaway caused so much of a commotion within the fraternity for wearing a hat that only her father, as a member, had rights to wear. One comment from an Alpha fraternity member put it all in perspective for Hathaway and non-members when he wrote,

"I'm sorry Lalah, but this isn't yours to choose to wear.

Bro. Hathaway belonged to a fraternity, something we all took oaths to uphold, and regardless of anyone's connection to it, if you're not a member, you don't have a right to the privileges."
