The officer who then separated the employees from Boykin's group described Boyking to be very aggressive, but  decided not to arrest him on site as the group "stated they would get him back to the hotel" at which they were all staying.

However, when Boykin and his group walked away and the officer turned his back to speak to the bar employees, Boykin allegedly ran up to a group of officers and swung repeatedly at one before "several officers took [Boykin] to the ground where the fight continued."

Boykin allegedly did not stop struggling on the ground until the officer threatened to tase him, at which time he was arrested.

Boykin was still being held at the San Antonio Magistrate as of Thursday morning and has been charged with a third-degree felony for assaulting a police officer as well as charges of resisting arrest and public intoxication. His bond was set at $5,000.

The original fight inside the bar reportedly began when, according to reports, patrons at the bar recognized Boykin and talked trash; the player became enraged and then allegedly hit a bar employee before being escorted out into the street.
