LL Cool J,paid tribute to other stars in the audience, including boxer Mike Tyson, former Los Angeles Laker Magic Johnson and Def Jam records co-founder Russell Simmons before adding: “I’m grateful, this is pretty big for me.”

The ceremony comes a week after LL Cool J celebrated his 48th birthday and three weeks before he hosts the Grammys for the fifth consecutive year.
Some of his biggest hits include I’m Bad, Going Back To Cali and Mama Said Knock You Out. He currently has a starring role in TV drama NCIS: Los Angeles and hosts the hit competition show Lip Sync Battle.
