Rapper T.I And Soul Food Actor Mekhi Phifer Is Set For Remake Of 1977 Award-Winning Miniseries " The Roots"
Will The New Miniseries Of  The Roots Be A Hit Or A Miss ?
BHR Hollywood Reports..............The classic 1977 award-winning miniseries, Roots is getting a remake on A&E and the cast keeps on getting more and more star-studded.

The 1977 Miniseries Of The Roots 
A&E Networks will present the eight-hour, four-night reboot as an original, contemporary production of the 1977 miniseries based on the Alex Haley novel, "Roots: The Saga Of An American Family."

This time around, the series will incorporate more material from Haley's book, along with carefully researched new scholarship of the time.

Mekhi Phifer is set to play Jerusalem, a mute slave who isn't quite what he appears to be. T.I. will play Cyrus, a strong-willed slave who fights for the Union Army against Confederate Forces.
Alex Haley 

Emayatzy Corinealdi will take the role of Belle, the wife of Kunta Kinte (played by Malachi Kirby).

These two join Anika Noni Rose, Laurence Fishburne, Derek Luke, Forest
Whitaker and other accomplished actors and actresses for the reboot. Mario Van Peebles will be involved as one of the miniseries' many directors.

It should also be noted that The Roots' Questlove is the music executive producer, and Will Packer (Straight Outta Compton, The Wedding Ringer, Obsessed) will serve as an executive producer for the project.

The miniseries is set for a 2016 premiere.
