And Hit Group N.W.A As Nominees
BHR Hollywood Reports.........Janet Jackson and N.W.A are among the finalists for the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Janet Jackson, a first-time nominee, is one of the best-selling artists in history with over 160 million records sold.

The 49-year-old pop icon still holds the title for the most consecutive Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 by a female artist with 18.

After a seven-year hiatus, Jackson is back to the music. Just last month, the legendary singer released Unbreakable, her first full-length album since the death of her brother, Michael, in 2009.

The tribute album to her late brother marks her first venture with her Rhythm Nation label.  Jackson is arguably the first female recording artist of African-American descent to form her own record label.

In addition to the album, Jackson is currently on her Unbreakable World Tour, which kicked off in August.

It's the fourth nomination for rap group N.W.A., whose story of how they revolutionized music and influenced hip-hop forever was shared on screen in the biographical movie, Straight Outta Compton this year.

As depicted in the film, group members Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella are known
as the most controversial and complicated voices of their generation, with well over 100 million records collectively sold over the last 29 years.

According to Billboard, acts are eligible for the Rock Hall 25 years after the release of their first recording, album, or single.

The top vote-getters will be announced in December and inducted in April at a ceremony in New York, which will be broadcast on HBO later in the year.

Fans can vote for their favorites on the Hall’s website.

The top five fan favorites will be considered for induction as a fan ballot. Votes from an international jury panel will also be considered.
