BHR Hollywood Reports..........Chaka Khan is heading to "Dancing with the Stars."

The singer confirmed the news on social media.

"It's official, y'all!! Need you to root for me on #DWTS!!" she wrote. She also recorded a video message about her joining the show.

Chaka Khan 

In 2013, Chicago city council honored Khan, who was born Yvette Marie Stevens, by naming a stretch of South Blackstone Avenue in Hyde Park in her honor.

The council that year also proclaimed July 28 "Chaka Khan Day."

Other members of the Season 21 cast ABC has confirmed on Twitter are: Longtime "Backstreet Boys" member Nick Carter, "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin's daughter Bindi Irwin, YouTube star Hayes Grier, actress Alexa PenaVega and her husband, actor Carlos PenaVega, and Triple Crown-winning jockey Victor Espinoza.

ABC is expected to announce the full cast of celebrity dancers and their professional partners Wednesday on "Good Morning America."

Season 21 of the dancing show premieres Sept. 14.
