BET Announces New Biopic Of Former R&B Group "New Edition"
BHR Hollywood Reports............A sweet TV candy treat is coming to BET: the network is developing a biopic as a three-part miniseries about R&B group New Edition.

The network announced Monday the legendary R&B group will be the subject of a three-night miniseries chronicling their lives, careers and music.

Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant have all signed on
Johnny Gill
to co-produce the project.

The group, famous for songs such as “Candy Girl” and “Cool It Now,” formed in the late 70s and rose to fame as a quintet in the 80s.

Bobby Brown
Brown left the group in the mid-80s to pursue a solo career and the band has broken up and reunited multiple times, but is currently back together.

The project is still looking for its director, but shooting is scheduled to begin in early 2016 from a script by Abdul Williams (Lottery Ticket).

Fingers crossed the miniseries also yields a Bell Biv DeVoe follow-up!

There has been no mention of Bobby Brown.

"Everyone's been waiting for the New Edition saga to be told in all its triumphs and heartbreaks, and we can't wait to bring it to the screen," Stephen Hill, BET president of programming, said in a statement.

The untitled miniseries is scheduled to go into production in 2016.
