First Lady Michelle Obama Honored A Murderd Chicogo Student During A Ceremony
BHR Hollywood Reports.......First Lady Michelle Obama had words of empowerment, and sympathy, for the graduates of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. College Prep Class of 2015 on Tuesday night.

Obama honored the Chicago high school's graduating class after the students won a video contest promoting college student financial aid.

She also gave special mention to Hadiya Pendleton, a classmate from the school who was murdered at 15 due to gang violence in 2013.

Michelle discussed how she was raised on the South Side of Chicago and dealt with some of the same issues that plague many who reside in inner city communities.

“I was born and raised here on the South Side and I am who I am today because of this community,” Obama said.

Michelle Obama
“I know the struggles many of you face: how you walk the long way home to avoid the gangs.

How you fight to concentrate on your home work when there’s too much noise in the home; how you keep it together when your family’s having a hard time making ends meet.

If Hadiya’s friends and family could survive the heartbreak and pain; if they could inspire folks across the country to wear orange in protest to gun violence, then I know you all can live your life with the same determination and joy that Hadiya lived her life.”
