 "They said it was a intentional act, that he ran the two individuals over. But we want to talk to him."

Witnesses said Knight drove backwards and stuck the victims and drove forward to strike them again.

 Yet the star's attorney, James Blatt, is confident in Knight's account that he was being attacked by two men and hit one with his car as he tried to escape.

"We are confident that once the investigation is completed, he will be totally exonerated," Blatt told The Associated Press.

Knight, 49, met with homicide detectives after authorities identified him as a person of interest in the case.

 He was arrested at around 3 a.m. and his bail was set at $2 million.

The d
eceased victim, pronounced dead at a local hospital, was 55 years old.

The condition of the 51-year-old injured victim is unknown. At least one of the victims was a member of the film crew, Corina confirmed.

Knight is credited with founding Death Row Records, the leading West Coast rap label that dominated the hip-hop scene in the early to mid-1990s.

He is noted for assisting in the careers of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and the late Tupac Shakur.
