K. Michelle Says Backlash Over Memphitz Abuse Claims Was 'Hurtful'

BHR HollyWood Report Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta's K. Michelle has addressed the backlash she received for coming out about the abuse she allegedly suffered while dating rapper and producer Memphitz.

The R&B singer revealed that she was in an abusive relationship that cost her career, during an episode of the controversial VH1 show, but was branded a "liar" by many viewers and, in particular, her co-star Rasheeda, who is close friends with Memphitz and his wife Toya Wright.

Explaining how she has dealt with the harsh backlash, K. Michelle told Global Grind: "It's hurtful. It's amazing that instead of embracing somebody and saying 'thank you for coming out, thank you, because I have been dealing with organisations for a year now."

"I see why women don't wanna come out... because y'all like, you mad at me? What you mad at me for? I don't think I would have got that backlash if I had been that person, not even that person, but that person's husband."
